In Almaty the experts from Central Asian countries discussed the issues of cross-border control, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis

Today in Almaty was held the second regional meeting of the inter-country working groups on "Migration and tuberculosis: cross-border TB control in the countries of Central Asia", during which experts reviewed the updated draft of the cross-country framework agreement on cooperation on cross-border control, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis in the Central Asian region, taking into account proposals submitted by the country working groups.

In the event was attended representatives of ministries and departments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, working on issues of healthcare and migration, as well as World Health Organization (further - WHO), International organization for migration, International Federation of red cross and red Crescent societies, national TB centers and NGO.

At the meeting information was provided on the implementation of the activities envisaged for the first half of 2016 in the framework of the implementation of the Road map for the development of inter-country agreements. They discussed the issues of information exchange about TB patients between countries, diagnosis and treatment of migrants, the involvement of civil society and NGO in a project on transboundary monitoring and treatment of tuberculosis.

We remind, the regional meeting of the inter-country working groups shall be held by Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of RK and non-governmental organization Project HOPE under the Comprehensive plan of tuberculosis control in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2014-2020. The first meeting was held in April 2016.
