Republican seminar-meeting concerning realization of the rights of persons with disabilities was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan Madina Abylkasymova.
Also in the seminar was attended by heads of departments MLSP, representatives of the central state bodies (MES RK, Ministry of Health of RK, RK WORLD), the members of the Coordinating Council on Disability advisers and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
The event was organized on the eve of the International Day for the rights of the disabled. On May 5, 1992, people with disabilities simultaneously in 17 European countries spend a day of struggle for respect for equal rights for disabled people against discrimination of people with physical, mental or sensory disabilities.
The goal of the movement - to draw public attention to the problems associated with the protection of the rights of people with disabilities.
The seminar discussed the issues of human rights and improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities in Kazakhstan.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population of Kazakhstan Madina Abylkasymova voiced the main directions of the department to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. The minister said that in the current year it is planned to develop a strategy to further improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities for the period 2019-2025 years, work will continue on the implementation of the integrated model of representation of social services and assistance, in the form of pilot projects in 5 regions of the country.
Among the problematic issues that require comprehensive consideration and solutions has named the head of department rescheduling disability determination and extension of the list of diseases and irreversible anatomical defect in which disability is established indefinitely. In addition, elaborate on changes in approaches to the establishment of disability for children, namely, the establishment of new categories: the disabled child of the first group, the disabled child of the second group, the disabled child of the third group of children from 0 to 16 years on the severity of a disability.
Also during the meeting it was presented the initiative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan to further deepen the positive transformation of socio-labor sphere and accessibility of public services, the development of independent living homes, proposals for the establishment of an independent mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the CRPD.
