According to the express information of the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the situation on the labor market in the third quarter of 2018”, the number of labor force aged 15 years and older in the third quarter of 2018 was 9.2 million people.
For comparison, in the second quarter, the total labor force at the age of 15 years and older was 9.1 million people.
The economy of the republic employed 8.7 million people or 67.0% of the population aged 15 years and older (in the second quarter 8.6 million people or 66.6% of the population aged 15 years and older). The number of employees amounted to 6.6 million people and increased by 216.1 thousand people (by 3.4%) compared to the third quarter of 2017.
As of September 2018, out of 8.7 million employed, 4.5 million are men (of which 3.39 million are wage workers and 1.11 million are self-employed, including 1.022 million are self-employed, 86 a thousand employers, 3, 8 thousand people are helping unpaid family workers and 2.8 thousand members of the cooperative) and 4.2 million are women (of which 3.22 million are employees and 1 million are self-employed, including 950.7 thousand are independent 45 thousand are employers, 3.7 thousand are helpers employees of family enterprises and 1.1 thousand members of the cooperative).
As of June 2018, 4.4 million men and 4.2 million women were employed in the economy of the republic.
Compared to the second quarter, the share of self-employed women who are employers increased in the third quarter (in the second quarter there were 44.6 thousand women, and in the third quarter the share of women employers increased to 45 thousand), with a decrease in the share of male employers from 93.3 thousand in the second quarter to 86 thousand in the third quarter.
In the second quarter, 3.4 thousand men and the same number of women worked in family-owned enterprises with unpaid workers helping. In the third quarter, 3.8 thousand men and 3.7 thousand women fall into this category.
The main share of employees was employed in organizations - 89.7% (5.9 million people). The number of self-employed persons amounted to 2.1 million people. A significant part of self-employed persons carried out their activities in agriculture (38.3%), as well as in the sphere of trade (31.1%), the provision of transport services (10.2%) and in construction (7.2%).
In the third quarter, out of the number of employed Kazakhstan people, 3.484 million people have secondary vocational (special) education (of which 1.855 million men and 1.649 million women); 3,368 million - the highest (1,826 million women and 1,542 million men); 1.275 million - the average total (740.1 thousand men and 535.2 thousand women); 400.9 thousand people - primary professional (265.5 thousand men and 135.4 thousand women); 117 thousand - incomplete higher (68.6 thousand men and 58.4 thousand women); 77.3 thousand - the main (43.6 thousand men and 33.7 thousand women); 5.2 thousand - primary education (2.9 thousand women and 2.3 thousand men).
The number of unemployed people aged 15 years and older who did not have a profitable occupation, actively looked for him and were ready to start it, in the third quarter of 2018 amounted to 441.6 thousand people. The unemployment rate was at 4.8% (in the third quarter of 2017 - 4.9%).
The share of men in the number of unemployed in the third quarter of 2018 was 45.0% (198.5 thousand people), women - 55.0% (243.1 thousand people).
In the third quarter of 2018, in the total number of unemployed, the proportion of young people aged 15-24 years was 8.6% or 38.1 thousand people, while those aged 15-28 were 18.5% or 81.9 thousand people. The youth unemployment rate at the age of 15-24 years old was at 3.7%; at the age of 15-28 years old, it was at 3.9%.
