ILO DIRECTOR-GENERAL SAYS GLOBAL JOBS CRISIS PUTS DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM AT RISK

SAYS CREATING TRILLIONS IN GROWTH, BUT ONLY A TRICKLE OF JOBS
IS UNSUSTAINABLE

GENEVA (ILO News) –The huge gap between the trillions in wealth but only a trickle of jobs being created by the global economy poses a growing threat to international security, development and democracy and must be addressed urgently, International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General Juan Somavia said today.

ILO TO LAUNCH COMPREHENSIVE NEW REPORT ON GLOBAL FORCED LABOUR

GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Office (ILO) is to launch a comprehensive report on forced labour on 11 May 2005, providing for the first time global and regional data on the scope of forced labour, an estimate of the profits derived from trafficking in people and propose a new global initiative to abolish such practices.

ILO RELEASES MAJOR NEW STUDY ON FORCED LABOUR

SAYS MORE THAN 12 MILLION ARE TRAPPED IN FORCED LABOUR WORLDWIDE


GENEVA (ILO News) – At least 12.3 million people are trapped in forced labour around the world, the International Labour Office (ILO) said in a new study released today. ILO Director-General Juan Somavia called forced labour “a social evil which has no place in the modern world”.

About changes in the Law on labor

The economic transformations connected to transition to market economy, have led to changes in public relations, to growth of a civil liability, transformation of the mechanism of interaction of employers and workers that demanded perfection of the legislation regulating labor relations.

Two-level protection

 

In the country,  the system exist  on getting the  state social benefits at the disablements and the loss of breadwinner acts, which relate to the first level of social protection .It is guaranteed by constitution. In this case the sizes of benefits are identical and do not depend on size of the lost working income. From 1 January 2005, will enter the action the law "about the required social insurance", which regulates the introduction of the second level of social protection.
