In Almaty UNAIDS Sub-regional office for the Central Asia countries on fight against HIV/AIDS communication will be opened.
Regional Director for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia countries Winney Saldana informed about it today at the meeting with the Ministry of healthcare and social development of the RK Tamara Duisenova, Today.kzсо broadcasts with reference to the press service of the ministry.
In the course of meeting the role of Kazakhstan as a leader country in counteraction against HIV/AIDS communication in the Central Asia region was discussed as well as forthcoming visit of the UNAIDS Executive Director Mr. Michel Sedibe to the RK. Within the framework of this visit it is assumed to open in Kazakhstan the UNAIDS Sub-regional office for the Central Asia countries.
'This decision has been already made at the level of our governing body. We have already started preparatory work on opening of the UNAIDS Sub-regional office for the Central Asia countries in Almaty, - Winney Saldana informed.
Besides, the parties discussed the issues concerning extension of the population access to antiretroviral preparations in treatment and prevention of HIV-infection.
UNAIDS Secretariat office in Kazakhstan was opened in 1996. Since then the UNAIDS work in close cooperation with the Government of the RK including that within the framework of rendering assistance in measures to respond the HIV-infection waves, development of appropriate strategies.
